March has been the longest year ever!
I don't know if it seems that way to you but it sure does to us. We started the month with my wife getting robbed at gunpoint, and we're ending it on a 21-day "lockdown," stuck in the house for a few weeks. Serious fines and/or jail time are consequences for meeting at church or attempting to go anywhere that is not considered, "essential." When we take our eyes off the Lord and start focusing on the events around us, it is very easy to allow discouragement, fear, and discontentment to set in. But we know that God is not a God of fear, but of power, love and of a sound mind. So we are determining in our hearts to focus on the goodness of God, and in "ALL THINGS give thanks."
In March we are thankful for:
- God's hand of protection over my wife when she was robbed. Only a phone was taken, and my children were not with her. She had a rough couple of weeks afterward but she is much better now. Thank you for the prayers.
- Technology! We are continuing our language studies through video apps and we are thankful for missionary Mark Coffey allowing our teacher to stay at his camp so he can have a good internet connection. Without this, we would have no other choice but to stop our classes.
- Also, This past Sunday we had church on Facebook messenger with about 15 people from missionary, Jeremy Hall's church, Soweto Baptist. This was a huge blessing that we will continue this in the coming weeks. Not only that, but we were able to listen to messages from our home church as well. My children loved this opportunity!
- During quarantine, we have two young men from the location staying with us. Miso 13 and Siphu 12. It has been a wonderful opportunity to take them out of a bad situation, and share God's love with them through life on life discipleship.
- Opportunities to spend time and make memories as a family.
- We celebrated our youngest daughter, Mercy's, 2nd birthday this month.
Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for the people in the townships. If the virus starts to spread in those areas it will be very dangerous. 25% of the people who live there have HIV/AIDS and another 10% have Tuberculosis. Pray for God's hand of protection for these vulnerable people.
- Pastor Mvume and I have been able to knock on about 150-200 doors a week but now we have to stop due to the lockdown. Please pray for the churchgoers to continue to come when we can return the church.
- Our teammates Missionary Mark Coffey and his family. They have to make some decisions about returning to the States earlier then they would like because of many different factors.
